I continue to progress on the Mameluke band, up to the basing stage now, I plan to add plastic cobbled sheet with raised cobbles, then just add green stuff around each foot of the horse, hopefully will not be a big task ….

 Underway with the painting of my band, a lot more to go on the 12 figures. The miniatures are from Gringo 40s, Another week at least before they get to wash stage.

Napoleonic French Mamelukes of the Guard WIP 1

 Settling back into the painting desk this week before I need to move it to a new location on the weekend completing lots of WIP and preparing projects for the Summer push. 

First up, I promised Ged at Gringo 40s I would paint his French Guard Mameluke band for display in the next few months, so I thought I had best get cracking. 

First up some research pics to help with motivation, for tunics, kettle drum, drummers, jingling jonnies and trumpets etc, really for my quick reference! Wip progress photos tomorrow as I started last night!

French Imperial Guard Mamelukes

French Imperial Guard Mamelukes

First entry for the Analogue Painting Challenge are a unit of Foundry 28mm Mamelukes. I have had these in my possession for at least ten years and as part of my continued focus to clear out my project drawers before I move into my new painting and project workshop on the top floor in March. 

They were quite quick to paint and I chose a simple five colour palette and just mixed and matched as I went, I decided to paint green and red leatherwork rather than the normal black just so I could use them as mamelukes or French  Imperial Guard. I also have based them individually as I will use them for skirmish games, plus I have a unit of Gringo 40s to paint that matches my larger figures of my collection.
