General Major Graf von Wylich 5th Brandenburg Dragoons

General Major Carl Heinrich Graf von Wylich und Luttum

On 9 April 1784 he became ensign of the Infantry Regiment of Anhalt-Bernburg, and on 26 October 1786 lieutenant. One year later, he was transferred to the newly formed fusilier battalion von Schenck. His battalion participated in the Dutch campaign of 1787. Shortly thereafter, as an ordonnance officer, he accompanied general Graf Schulenburg-Renert in the war against France. A fall from his horse in 1793 led to a fracture of his foot and rendered him unsuitable for field duties.

He was assigned as an assistant to the Upper War Collegium, where he remained, raising in rank, until the treaty of Tilsit in 1807. In the same year he was assigned to hold the Report of Military Affairs. On 16 December 1808 was reassigned as the head of the Military Economy Department.

He became general major on 3 February 1810. In 1811 General Major Graf von Wylich was the commander of the 5th Brandenburg regiment from until 1814.The regiment fought at Lützen (2 May 1813), Bautzen (20-21 May 1813), Dennewitz (6 September 1813), and Leipzig (16-19 October 1813). In the war of 1812 against Russia, he was sent by the king to Warsaw, to negotiate with Emperor Napoleon the right of passage through Prussian territories. In 1814 and 1815, Graf Lottum remained mostly in Paris, to manage outstanding payments owed by France. On 3 August 1828, he was appointed General of the Infantry by the king. Graf Lottum died in Berlin on 14 February 1841.

Sassanid Prince Ardeshir II

 Prince Ardeshir II

Prince Ardeshir, brother of Shapur II and leader of the Pushtigbhan of the royal hosehold. Along with his brother they successfully conquered Armenia and expanded the borders of the empire against Rome and in the east. He predominantly lead the defence in the north against the nomadic tribal invasions and squashed the nobles rebellion until his nephew was made King Shapur III. Another sub general for my Sassanid army, again an A&A miniature which make up the majority of my sassans.

Sassanid Pushtigbhan, Princes guard

 Sassanid Pushtigbhan

My second unit of Sassanid Royal guard, this unit is also from A & A miniatures range. These chaps have been in my project drawers for around ten years. I ground off the raised decor with the dremel than sanded the horses smooth with wet and dry sandpaper, so a time consuming job to say the least. Quite happy with them could of spent more time on them but elected to get them table ready. They are the last cavalry unit I have for the army.

Brandenburg Prussian Dragoons 1st Squadron

Brandenburg Dragoon Regiment 5 Prince Wilhelm

1st Squadron

Finally had some time to sit down and complete some projects this week. I started these chaps while I was in Australia, wrapped them carefully and shipped them with me in my suitcase. A few dings but nothing major, so based the horses and touched up the troopers and matt varnished and based today. Flags on order.
