Sherbourne church

We visited Sherborne whilst we were in the UK to visit the antiques stores, the ville and the church for the effigies.

A visit to Warwick castle

This last two weeks we have been on holidays in the UK visiting cathedrals, castles and places of interest.

Partizan Haul

This year I was a little reserved on purchases as I had a lot of pre purchases awaiting me.

First up Gringo 40 Mameluke Sqaudron and some extra band members, as per ITGM 10 wonderful figures by Ged, really lovely sculpts, I am looking forward to getting some paint on them.

Perry Vendee/Chouans another bunch of wonderful Perry sculpted figures, hope to get some paint on them by the end of the year. I also added 4 boxes of 1807 line, metal command, 2 boxes of hussars, a box of British line and metal command.

From Gripping Beast/Calpe  a regiment of 18 Prussian Landwehr cavalry to add to my Prussians

In 20mm Early War Minuatures Belgian infantry, support vehicles and light tanks. For my 21st Panzer some bren carriers with nebel Werfer. The infantry will allow me to complete my Belgian infantry and armour project, the German bits are for my 21st Panzer build coming up next year.

I could not resist two bloodbowl teams Goblins and Halflings for 15£ from the bring and buy, I nearly bought them retail two days previously when I visited GW for 23£ each.

Bits, as always a few loose ancients and sci fi pieces  ….. but I did forget to buy bases from Warbases ….

Gallic Chieftain Chichester

Another item on my list for my visit to the Chichester museum and their unique well preserved Celtic helmet and tomb of a 1st century BC grave goods.

The helmet is extraordinary, although in my opinion I think multi coloured horse hair in the plume or even perhaps feathers.

Fishbourne Palace

I managed to tick off a bucket list visit to Fishbourne Palace near Chichester. The museum is quite fabulous but does need an upgrade to bring it into line to modern museums.

Less than 1/3rd of the villa has been exposed..

In the afternoon we decided to travel down to the coast only a few kilometers away to the village of  Bosham with its small port. To our surprise when visiting the HolyTrinity church we found the burial marker for King Cnut daughter, then a tapestry showing the departure location of Harold Godwinson when he visited Normandy  to deliver his note to William. Also across the mill stream once stood the Earl Godwine great hall and palace where on the steps King Cnut braved the tide in his attempt to command it while it rushed in.
