Saab Drakker wip

 Saab Draken wip part 1

A relaxing afternoon after Gardening all day I decided to put a kit together in my stash. I selected a simple Airfix 1/72 Drakken to build. I will build this straight of the box ready for my Swedish Cold War project.

As always I paint my pilot and interior first before assembly, all together tonight ready for paint next week

Prussian Landwehr Officer

 Prussian Landwehr officer

Off the desk last week also was a Landwehr officer to lead my regiment, again an elite miniature, I thought I would mount him on a piebald as horses were in short supply in 1813. More coming in the next week or so as I continue on my Prussian army expansion.

Another year older…..

 Another year older….

Well another year older and as normal my wife spoils me, first up a few presents, the biggest surprise was the new Victrix chassuers of the guard (apparently my mate Philippe suggested it!), some books which I had ordered . Then we spent the day in Normandy as tourists visiting some of the museums on the coast and out for lunch in Falaise also on the way. …

Prussian Landwehr

 Prussian Salesian Landwehr

Off the table last week we’re a unit of 32 Landwehr to join my growing Prussian collection this year. The miniatures are from the Elite Miniatures range. Really happy how they have come out. I need to do some research to add a flag for them!

Mayenne city build : Maison particular WIP

Mayenne Ville Build

This year I want to commence my Ville Mayenne city tiles that can be used for any major French city really on a river. one side will be predominately intact with a few damaged buildings the other side heavily damaged to represent Ville Mayenne in August 1944.

My main focus for the build will be the main buildings between place de Cheverus to the Pont McCracken where a majority of the fighting occurred in the city.

Maison Particular

This week a new work in progress of a recent second hand purchase of some model railway buildings I picked up at a market very cheaply. The first building is a Vollmer post office which I will convert to a town house (Maison Particular ). This building will represent Dr Morrisett’s house which was the headquarters for the German commander of the Oisseau radar station. First up I washed the building in warm soapy water, then cleaned up the glue and prepared the rear of the building for render treatment. As I want it to represent the actual building a little more. I did think about cutting it up but have decided against it. I also need to scratch build a garage for the Maison and front gates.

Dr Morrisets House, the commandant of the Oisseau radar station 3 klm north west of the city.

Germanic tribesmen harii

 Germanic Harii Tribesmen

off the table last week was another unit of Germanic tribesmen, I wanted to depict the Harii tribesmen who according to Tacitus were painted in black with black shields, I painted the miniatures as normal then inked the miniatures which did not achieve the look that I was after so out come the German black grey and I approached them more look Indian warpaint on the naked miniatures.  Another entry for the analogue painting challenge.

The miniatures are from the Warlord Miniatures range, and are listed as the Germanic fanatics.
