French Knights and Squires 100YW
For the last 10 years I have been researching Knights/Chevaliers and Squires/écuyers of the 100 years war, pulling information from all over the place, the last two months since the lockdown I have been pulling this all together specifically for Chevaliers and écuyers of Maine for the eleven local battles within 100klm, plus the 50 odd sieges.
My main focus to start with will be the French army from Baugé to Verneuil, concentrating first on the Chevaliers and écuyers locally, plus adding Bretons and Anjou Armagnac, Scottish, plus the opposing English and Burgundian and Normans, plus mercenary units up to Orleans and the campaign for the recovery of Normandy in the west, . I expect these armies to be more than 400 figures when completed.
I intend to predominately use perry plastics and a number of metals plus resort my old Glory army into late and early.
Wish me luck!
Kicking off with some Perry plastics for Chevaliers and Écuyers who fought at La Brossinière.

At la Brossinière in Andre de Locheac company, at Baugé in Guy de Laval company.

ReplyDeletelol Ray, I already have a heap of old glory, but now getting serious with actual chaps involved, old glory will be either repurposed or sold I think.

Very nice! I believe Perry miniatures are going to work fine. Good choice 👍
ReplyDeleteThank you Dmitry, they are lovely figures
DeleteGreat start to an interesting project. Naming the Chevaliers adds to the depthbof this project showing your research is well placed.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing more in the future.
Cheers, Ross
10 years of research pulled together, I will possibly release pamphlets for each battle and the knight and squires present in both sides with references, I big to do though to pull that together.

DeleteAll looking very good, Matt. What is the device (or/yellow) on the surcoat of Étienne d'Aubert?
ReplyDeleteThank you, a carpenters mallet, probably should do some more work on it
DeleteThese are great Matt - I need to do some mounted French knights (with Patay in mind) and so will use this heraldry as reference. All the best, Simon
ReplyDeleteOk, lots more to come Simon
