The stars are in alignment!

Well what a beautiful winters day it was yesterday, a barmy 13 degrees in Marulan with not a breath of wind for our clubs carboot sale, which was very successful I felt. Sound concept with the travellers from Sydney and Canberra surprised by the short trip down.

Myself and Boyd travelled up together from Sunny Goulburn a little late and with good cappacino's in hand. After arrival I immediatly bolted to look at everybody's stuff, like a little kid in a candy stall. After the meet and greet I set up my stuff and went back purusing and buying, firstly some more ww1 1/72 scale aircraft off Rob's table, then some books from the cardinal, then some books, 28mm Greeks and 20mm Paras from Mick, then some vehicles from Chris, and finally some horse and musket civilians from Dave, on the swap and sale side I sold my 28mm chariot wars babylonians, my left over 20mm german vehicles and swapped late medievals for WSS and some ww2 gliders, a bunch of Perry indians for 7YW French Dragoons and a book for a book! Pictures are here

The BBQ was a hit and seemed to be a focal point for the discussion of politics, wargaming, upcoming events and holidays. Much talk of the clubs upcoming events including our "Arnhem" weekend in September and "Lace Wars" in November, along with the modern Rapid Fire "Cold War Hot" weekend against the Maroubra Emirs club

After returning home I handed over all of my cash and settled down to a bit of painting, cooked a very fine rissoto and retired to bed early to read my new books, now I have a hankering to replay Rossbach!

Goulburn Valiant Stormers Swap Meet

Goulburn Valiant Stormers

"White Lead Elephant, car boot swap meet"

24th of July , Saturday 10 am -3pm
8 Railway Parade Marulan
.

Weather permitting..it will be quite cold but should be dry...

Bring a blanket card table whatever and all the stuff you are going to NEVER read, paint or play with and sell trade or swap with others of a like mind discuss what you intend to bring or what you intend to pick up on this thread here http://passageoflines.50.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=1220.

We can get about 25 cars into the backyard so there should be enough room? A goodly distance between Canberra (1 hr 20mins) and Sydney (1 hour 40 mins) ..sausage sizzle coffee and tea available at the location and local eateries and coffee are part of the general ambiance.

Bring lots of bags or boxes to carry home your loot and lots of small notes, it is very hard to get change around here . Bring a raincoat and an umbrella and don't park on the railway side of the road, you will get a golfball through your windscreen!

"Kingmaker 2010"

Well only a few members made it up this month so only five players for the sheildwall games, and I managed to take some bad pics and get a drubbing with my Flemish, but the good company and lunch made up for my misery. Louis and Guy won both games so a draw after all for first place. After we finnished we played 1/72 scale Wings of War with Marks fast play WOW with dice, Marks Rohden Gothas were huge and his Se5s, Fe2s were excellent along with a great range of early german kit. Five of us played and it was great fun, Sam was excited to shot down Boyd in his fancy Albatross, and I got mark on a single dice roll of 100! All of us have promised to paint our hordes of unpainted plastic ww1 aircraft we have around the place and get them on the table in the next few months. I have added the few pictures that did work out below. I have on the painting desk at the moment more 20mm germans, more 28mm Sassanids and some successor Greeks and ancient German cavalry as roman allies.

On the painting table and errata!

This month back to painting my own stuff after painting a number of moderns and finnishing off some sculpting of some 28mm masters for some customers. A real mix on the table at the moment some Fenlon ACW Zouaves(which are now back in production) and my last bit of ACW lead I have in the hoard, must take a picture of the completed army this weekend. Late Romans (A and A minis)Sassanid Infantry and cavalry (A and A also)and some 20mm germans with snow equipment (which will be heading off to our clubs "White Lead Elephant" Swapmeet on saturday the 24th of July). Also sculpting some 20mm NVA for Wartime and sculpting some 15mm Buildings for Glyn a "Fernvale specialty scenics". We also had our ACW convention at the club "A House Divided" which was a great success with about 20 ACW fans having a great day out. pics below. Next month is our Sheildwall tourney so back to Vikings for a sec, before charging on with some moderns for our Club vs Club clash with the "Maroubra Emirs, Cold War Hot" game in August.

Ides of March

Had a hard day at the office when myself (Republican) and Dave (Early Imperial romans) came up against Bruces (Successor) and Andrews (Alexandrian)armies 5000 points per side, to put it bluntly we were thrashed, my Raw Hastati failed to stop the rolling pike blocks, my princeps done a good job holding them up and cutting them down to size but my folding flanks gave me my biggest challenge, the Successor Elephants and Bruces light infantry and warband ran down my light infantry and then dealt killer blows to my Trairii who stayed to die to the last man, my general did managed to cut down a few of the enemy and hold his princeps unit together, my cavalry were largly ineffective but did manage to knock out some of Bruces Indian archers.
Over on Daves table the thracian light infantry and warbands managed to knock the roman Auxillia for six, along with the ballista on the right flank, and on the left and centre the pike mostly just ground it out with the legionarys and eventually came out on top after some shocker rolls from Dave, the roman cavalry were no match for the companion cavalry and fled off the table taking the general (who had attached for the charge) and the army standard with them. So the romans decided to concede and raise another army for the next round!
